Always Evolving
In the last several years, I have had two different jobs, including the return to teaching; I purchased and remodeled a home with the wonderful man in my life; and, who can forget, survived a pandemic. I still, on occasion, consult with indie authors on social media and marketing strategies, edit manuscripts, and, in general, develop my own social media presence.
Did I leave the full-time nature of blogging because I returned to a more traditional career? Yes, partly. Time, or lack thereof, was certainly a factor. But, if I am to be completely honest, my passion for what I was writing about also deteriorated. It was exhausting to be constantly focused on content. I was going through a divorce, working outside the home full-time, and a single-mother of two pre-teen children, both are now adults! I had to choose and blogging simply took a backseat.
My book and movie reviews were fun and very popular, but they also took the joy out of simply reading a novel or watching a film. Reading and keeping up with the latest movie premiers became a chore rather than being one of my favorite hobbies. The amount of editing and revising of each blog post became exhausting, and even though I promised myself I would stop with the perfectionism and just write, I couldn't do it. So I stopped. Completely.
Until now. When I will once again give this world of blogging a try...even if many say blogs are no longer relevant (and, I partly agree with them.)
This time (NINE years after starting Lavender Inspiration), there will be no pressure and no deadlines. Just me writing, when I want to write, about daily life. After all, if we aren't still evolving, are we really living?
